autumn blessing

Fall leaves swirl around. Air is not yet chilled but is full of hints and laden with promises that change is coming, has in fact already been initiated.  A deep and joyful breath, a quickening heart beat.  I call out; a head raises up and a quick welcoming whinny greets me before I step foot into the paddock.  We walk towards each other, one with head bent, one with heart forward.  A flash of gold in the afternoon autumn sun and I sigh in satisfaction as a lowered head bumps into my chest and blesses my day.
